Local attractions
There are several stately homes in the area, some do 16 century re-enactments in the summer and there are open air Shakespeare performances in their grounds. Colchester is England’s oldest recorded town; it has a Roman castle, plenty of shops, theatre, cinema, museums and a big leisure complex with some good swimming pools.
Ipswich offers similar attractions.
